Maurizio Sarri is already looking ahead to the Coppa Italia derby
Maurizio Sarri, head for the derby
Satisfied with the external success against Udinese, but also aware that there's immediately to regain concentration in view of the Coppa Italia quarterfinal that his Lazio will play against Roma, in a derby that promises to be already fiery: è this, in a nutshell, is the state of mind of Maurizio Sarri, who spoke to the microphones of Dazn after the Udine match.
First of all there'è the doubt related to the conditions of Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto: "Tomorrow they have their respective checks – said the biancoceleste coach -, at most they will be in the group on Tuesday. We have to be realistic, for Luis Alberto è difficult and for Immobile almost impossible. Those who will be there, however, will give their best: the derby must be won, for us and for our fans".
On the match won against Udinese, Sarri instead explained: "It was a difficult, dirty match, played on a non-ideal ground and against a more physical team than us. I am happy with the performance of the boys, especially how they reacted after the 1-1, staying in the game without giving up and coming to terms with a difficult situation".
That one against Udinese è the third consecutive victory for Lazio, which in the previous two outings, to close out the 2023 calendar year, had beaten first Empoli away 2-0 (Guendouzi and Zaccagni in goal) and then Frosinone 3-1 (scoring, after the illusory lead signed by Soulé, Castellanos, Isaksen and Patric).
