Rafael Nadal will not beà at Wimbledon

The Wimbledon tournament scheduled for the first half of July will not see Rafael Nadal at the starting ribbons. It was the Spanish champion himself, winner on the London grass in 2008 and 2010, who confirmed his absence, revealing to his fans and insiders the reasons that led to this decision.

In a lengthy post published in 'X', Nadal began by explaining that already since the preparation toward Roland Garros he has been focusing, training-wise, on clay. "It's been confirmed that I will be in Paris for what will be my last Olympic Games, with this goal we believe that the best thing for my body is not to change surface and continue to play on clay until then".

"It is for this reason that this year I will not be able to play at Wimbledon,” he added.

It will be sad not to be able to experience this year the fantastic atmosphere of an extraordinary event that will always be in my heart and not to be able to be with all the British fans who have always given me great support. I will miss everyone".

" To prepare for the Olympic Games I will play the tournament in Bastad, Sweden. It is a tournament that I played at the beginning of my career and where I had a lot of fun both on and off the court. I look forward to seeing you all there.
.
Thank you" then concluded the champion from Manacor, making an appointment for the tournament that will also see Jannik Sinner at work, as announced a few weeks ago by the organization.
