Italvolley triumphs in Nations League, first joy for Velasco: “Very good Egonu”
Italian volleyball triumphs in Nations League: first joy for Velasco and Egonu
Immediately a trophy for Julio Velasco’s Italvolley: the Azzurre defeated Japan 3-1 at PalaHuamark in Bangkok, winning the second Nations League in their history. Italy won with the partials of 25-17; 25-17; 21-25; 25-20, ending in the best way the run that began in May: a success that gives confidence in view of the Olympics.
Thanks also to a rediscovered Egonu (27 points for her), Velasco won yet another laurel of his illustrious career, the first with women. "I think the team improved match after match thanks to the excellent work done together with the staff and everyone who contributed to this success", said the coach after the match.
"Then in the overall context there are individualities" that did very well because" to the team game in which everyone knows what they have to do with order and intensity, there" è the individual contribution to make the difference".
"At the wall we were very good, as well as in attack and reception. At the service then I think we had an outstanding tournament, batting very aggressively but making few mistakes. From the individual point of view Paola Egonu did very well, as did Sylla, Orro, Degradi and Bosetti, who despite a small physical problem she had last week, proved to be effective in the final coming in from the bench. I can say that this is a team victory but also of the individuals".
All the satisfaction of Anna Danesi: ""We absolutely do not want to stop and that è the beauty. I stated that as captain I would like to sing the anthem on another podium, but already; having done it tonight è a source of pride that makes me happy twice", are the words reported by Ansa.
