Olimpia Milano, Stefano Tonut feels the scudetto is his.
The words of Stefano Tonut
Stefano Tonut on Sportweek took stock of his excellent season at’EA7 Emporio Armani Milano: “I just consider my year as very positive, becauseé I am happy to have contributed to this Scudetto by putting an important piece for the achievement of it”.
In the 2024 triumph there’è was more of a Tonut protagonist than in the 2023 one: “Definitely. Last year I had arrived in a new team, aware that I would have a different role from the one I played in Venice and that I would be facing a completely different level, higher than the previous one, from a technical and psychological point of view. So I knew that I might encounter difficulties. But I also knew that the second season – this – would be a little bit’ easier, becauseé in the meantime I would grow in every aspect. How did I do that? By identifying and addressing problems as they arose. Starting with the right role to help the team. This year I think I found that from the start. This allowed me to maintain a consistent performance in a season that for the team è was characterized by ups and downs also due to injuries, which resulted in a constant reshuffling of hierarchies within the group. I was lucky to have stopped only for about ten days, thus managing to carve out a space for myself that è became wider and wider, to the point of allowing me to enter the quintet steadily in recent months, when I played many minutes often marking the opponent”s key-player.
Of the four Scudetti won in his career, which one è the one Tonut feels is most his? “It will be trivial, but I feel them all, becauseé when you are part of a team, a piece of the Scudetto è in any case yours, even if you play little or nothing. That is why I say that the Scudetto won this year also belongs to Bortolani, Caruso, Poythress and Lo, who have hardly seen the field in the last few games. Having said that, the first of my four Scudettos è was the least expected one, a bit’ because’ I was just in my second A season, a bit’ because’ Reyer avav as a goal to stay on top, but certainly not to aim for the title. The second Scudetto è came at a somewhat particular time in my life and I won it as a protagonist, so I remember it with particular pleasure. As I said, the first one in Milan I’ve experienced from the outside in the final series; this last one I feel particularly mine”.
