Atalanta, the new defender has arrived: Ben Godfrey at the signatures

Calciomercato Atalanta: Ben Godfrey will be a Nerazzurri player starting next season, thus filling one of the most delicate boxes in the squad available to Gian Piero Gasperini. The Orobic club was in fact on the hunt for a central defender, and they secured one who can also disengage on the side lanes.

Friday proved to be the day of the decisive acceleration, with Godfrey first landing at Linate airport, then undergoing and passing medical examinations at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan, and then reaching Atalanta’s sports center in Zingonia to sign his new contract. He arrives from Everton on a permanent basis.

Pending the officialization, details of the deal are already circulating. Atalanta will pay Godfrey about 10 million euros to which about 2 million in bonuses should be added. A role-playing central defender, at Everton he has shown that he can also adapt to the position of full-back. This is no small detail, which makes him particularly interesting for Gasperini’s project.
