Scafati has announced the signing of David Logan
Big blow from the market for newly promoted Scafati, coached by coach Alessandro Rossi.
“Givova Scafati is pleased to announce the signing until the end of the season of the American athlete naturalized Polish David Logan: experience and leadership at the service of coach Alessandro Rossi, who will thus be able to take advantage of a basketball player with an important palmares, endowed with an excellent shot and a great sense of responsibility, who in the team context will be an important added element for quality, technique and numbers,” reads the note from the yellow-blue club.
“Born in Chicago on Dec. 26, 1982, the newly minted scafatese point guard trained first at North Central High School in Indianapolis, then at Indianapolis University where, wearing the jersey of the Ulndy Greyhounds, he was crowned the Ncaa II Player of the Year (28.6 point average). He turned professional right starting in Italy (2005/2006 season) in the ranks of Pavia in the A2 series, whose numbers earned him the interest of the Israelis of Ramat Hasharon. In the summer of 2006 he returned to his homeland and played in the G-League with the Fort Worth Flyers but then, during the same season he returned to Europe, specifically to Poland, to wear the Starogard GdaÅski jersey. The following season 2007-08 he remained in Poland, where he also took nationality, playing for Turów Zgorzelec and earning the title of MVP of the league and in the Eurocup (18.6 points, 1.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds average). He also remained in Poland for the next two seasons in the ranks of Prokom, with which he won the national back-to-back title and made his Euroleague debut, racking up an average of 15.9 points, 3.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds in the 35 games in Europe’s top competition. In 2010 he moved to Spain, in the Liga ACB, to play with Caja Laboral Vitoria (recording in the Eurocup 10 points and 2.4 assists average), then went to Greece, to Panathinaikos, with which he also took part in the Euroleague Final Four and won the Greek Cup. In 2012-13, he moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv, playing in the Israeli top league and the Euroleague (10.6 points average), while the following year he moved to Germany, Alba Berlin’s side, where he won the German Cup, reached the Bundesliga finals (12.7 points and 2.5 assists average) and played in the Eurocup quarterfinals (13.7 points average). Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari brought him back to Italy in the 2014-2015 season, with whose jersey “il Professore” won an historic triplete: Supercup, Coppa Italia (complete with MVP title) and Scudetto. He remained in Sardinia also the following season, closed with an average of 16.6 points and 42% from three. It was in 2016/2017 the Lithuanian experience with the Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius jersey (18.1 points average); the season ended, however, in the Italian league, in fact he landed there in February 2017 to embellish the already competitive Scandone Avellino (15.9 points and 2.7 assists average). He then militated in 2017/2018 in the French top league under the colors of SIG Strasbourg (14.5 points and 2 assists average), with which he won as MVP the French Cup, and in 2018/2019 in the Korean league with KT Sopnicboom (17.5 points and 3.8 assists average). In February 2019, he returned to Italy to reinforce De Longhi Treviso and lead it to victory in the A2 Italian Cup, in which he was the MVP, and the championship, taking the club to the top division. He also remained in Veneto in the next two Serie A championships, in the second of which, in spite of his 38 years of age, he put up 17.3 points and 2.8 assists in 28 minutes of average usage. Last season he returned to Sardinia to once again wear the uniform of Dinamo Sassari, which closed with an impressive 43 appearances between the league (average points of 13.4) and the Champions League, with an average usage of 24.6 minutes in both competitions,” the Campania club’s release continues.
